Hi Friends,
Recently I have been doing some soul searching from a brand perspective (a business essoteric crisis one might say), and the questions I have been asking myself are, what do I stand for? What is it about Molteno that makes us, us? Well I let my intuition take the reigns, and I thought I should share this with you.

As a passionate creative, I am constantly designing in my head, thining of better ways to do things, studying couture past and present and trying to work out the best, netest way of doing things, and more importantly, breaking out of the box. I have never been a follower and I have come to accept that it's just part of my presonality that I always want to lead the pack in doing somethig that has never been done before. I am that person who can be easily manipulated into tackling a mamouth task simply by telling me that I can't. I love a challenge and am rarely in my confort zone, so the more innovative and difficult a design project, the better! I am alwys tring to make that bodice more illusion, that corset better fitting, and those panel lines, more complicated. I just love every bit of the challenge of making a couture garment, so if you have a dificult idea, BRING IT! Let's break the box!

To me, creating superior quality garments is as much of a challenge as new designs. With each new dress, I am improving the finishing and quality, so that in the end you have a garment that is exquisitely finished and will ast a lifetime. Whether is be a wedding dress or a Matric farewell gown, I always insist on using the highest quality fabrics. For this reason, some people are surprised by the cost, but for me I feel that on your special occassion it it 100% worth spending that little but more and creating a garment you can be proud of. Quality to Molteno is encorprated in the careful constriction of your gown, the high quality fabrics used, the attention to detail, and the personal service you recieve from Rose and her team.

Creative exclusivity

Asside from the Molteno bridal range which is stocked at a limited number of carefully selected South African boutiques, Molteno has couture one-off designer wedding dresses and Matric Dance dresses in never repeated styles. To Rose, life is just too short to make the same dress twice! If you come to Molteno Creations for a Matric Ball Gown, you are gauranteed that no one has ever, and never again will, wear exactly the same dress. Rose is constantly re-inventing new styles to keep on the forefront of fashion trends, so you can be sure you're going to be a style leader in her exclusive gowns and wedding dresses.

That personal touch

The most wonderful compliment I got recently from my lovely bride, was that she felt that the personal service I gave to her was outstanding. I was surprised to hear that she hadn't experienced the same evel of service from all of her suppliers as for me this is just how I am. She said that she felt like she was my only client (not at all true) while with other suppliers she simply felt like a number.
With Molteno, if I'm custom making you a Matric Dance dress or a wedding dress, I offer you personal attention and by the ned I feel like I'm ade a new friend! It's so fun getting to know each of my clients and I'm here for them as a sounding board when the stress hits, and an uplifter r when you're not feeling so hot. After all, we all have our bad days, so don't be so hard on yourself!

I could really go on forever, but this is to me the most important bits that you can think of when you think about Molteno. Me and my talented team will do all we can to make your special occassion, and the process leading up to it as stress free and fun as possible.
Much love!

Whether it be your Matric Dance dress or your wedding dress, it's a wonderful experience to have a dress custom made for you. To avoid any risks, check out these four tips
and know you're going to have great fun with the process!
Hi Friends!
So today I just thought I'd share some thoughts on what the custom couture process is really about for me. To me it's a process that can bring you happy memories and help boost your confidence for the rest of your life, and this is why...

I have written before about how important it is to get on with your chosen designer, but I'm going to say it again, IT REALLY IS IMPORTANT! When I start work on any custom order, I see it as embarking on a project WITH my client. Yes I am the one with the technical know-how to be able to create your dress, but ultimately, a custom-made couture wedding dress or Matric Dance dress is a commission and it's ALL ABOUT YOU! It's my job to guide you to what will work for your body type, put in my creative and technical imput, and of course physically make the garment. It's Your job to show me who you are. My passion is not just creating beautiful garments, but also being able to create beautiful garments that express you individual beauty, style and personality. When we work on a commission, I take you as my muse, my inspiration, and I just LOVE discovering your unique sense of style.

I get so excited when a client brings me a new picture that I've never seen before as a reference and it get's my creative juices flowing in a whole new direction! There is nothing more fun to me than spending hours tweaking a dress until it's just PERFECT for YOU!

In my own bridal range, I think of different types of women who I admire, and try to design a dress for each of them. With a commission, together we get inspired and create a dress that has never existed before, and never again will!

I believe that, particularly on your wedding day, what you wear should be an expression, an extension, of who you are. We are all beautifiul, unique individials, your dress should be too!
My motto is, life is too short to wear someone else's dress (oh and boring socks, way too short for boring socks!)

Hi Friends!
I wanted to show you some images from a creative shoot that I was priveledged to have been a part of recently! I was approached by Simone from Yellow Papaya saying that she was involved in creating a styled shoot with a bridal theme and would I be interested in lending out a dress or two for it. After having looked at Simone's work, I jumped onboard! Her styling is first class so I was excted at the chance to work with her.

The theme was a laid back, South African farm wedding, so I put these two dresses from my latest 2017 Bridal collection. The gowns are both illusion bodices with flowing chiffon skirts. Perfect for a summer wedding in Cape Town.

Simone arranged to do the shoot at the very elegant and sophosticated Bellevue Wine Estate in Stellenbostch. This historic venue has an original Cape Dutch farmhouse that was built in 1803 and breathtaking grounds on which to shoot.

Simone has formed a collaborative team with the talemted photographer Riehan Bakkes naming it the Dodgeburn Collective. Riehan took these gorgeous images while Simone did the styling. The models, rocking my wedding dresses are Deisy Narcy and Kayla.
To make sure these models were perfectly finished off, hair and make-up was done by Cellia Fourie.

All in all I couldn't be happier with the outcome and I hope I will get the opportunity to work with this creative team again one day!

Lee-Shay was one of my brides who wanted something very original and specific. She and her fiance’ were planning an elegant wedding that was inspired by the 1920’s and 1930’s era. They were going for glamorous sophistication but her dress was to be subtly glam and timeless in style and design.

Lee-shay wanted her wedding dress to be clean and simple. She didn’t want any lace on her dress, but instead wanted a bias cut vintage inspired gown that had clean lines and was simple, clean and glamorous.

When we had our consultation, I advised that she have a more modern fit and flare cut on the skirt in order to accentuate her natural curves and cinch in her small waist.

Lee-Shay wanted an ivory silk for her gown but we ended up selecting a heavier satin fabric so that I could achieve the structured, fine lines that we wanted. After a few fittings, the dress really came together beautifully and she looked incredibly beautiful on her wedding day!

This gown proves that less is indeed more, simplicity can be the most elegant of all.
