In December 2016 I completed Candace’s dream wedding dress and spectacular veil! It was a project that required many hours of work, but in the end it was well worth it!

Candace came to me after having tried on several dresses but none of them were quite right. She knew she wanted a certain look for her wedding gown and chose me to help her to achieve it.

She wanted a V neck lace dress with long sleeves, and a fit ‘n flare shape. She wanted the skirt to be in soft tulle for that romantic, floaty look. She wanted a statement 1.2mtr long train with lace cascading down onto the skirt. To accompany this gorgeous dress, Candace wanted a lace edged cathedral veil.

I was excited to start this project as it’s just the type of couture work that I love! We went fabric shopping together and she selected a stunning cream beaded, embroidered lace with a magnificent embroidered guipure edging. The lace was heavily beaded with pearls and was perfect to achieve the look she was going for.

I got to work creating a dress that would fit her like a glove. The bridal gown had a fully structured corset and the whole body was covered with lace that was cut and carefully hand sewn into place. The skirt required 18 meters of mesh, covering 9 meters of tulle. We hand sewed lace motiv’s down onto the tulle. The sleeves ended in the extravagant lace ending, as was the neckline and keyhole back detail.

To complete Candace’s bridal look, we hand sewed a wide, intricate lace trim to the edge of her two-meter-long Cathedral Veil which trailed regally behind her.
When I finally saw these pictures from her wedding day I was blown away by how gorgeous she looked! This couture bridal look was certainly something for the record books, a spectacular couture look that I’m very proud of.

Thank you, Candace, all the best for the future!

Hi Friends!
Well this is really rather old news, but I've been rubbish at making the time to blog. This has something to do with the fact that I have been crazy busy making the wedding  dresses for the boutiques who are now stocking my bridal wear!

In November last year, I traveled to Johannesburg and Pretoria, suitcase of wedding dresses in hand, hoping to find some bridal boutiques to stock with my dresses. I returned to Cape Town elated and ecstatic at having been received even better than I could have imagined!

In December I delivered my first few wedding dresses to the exclusive Crystal Brides in Pretoria. Chrystal ordered a Chantilly lace flute shaped dress with champagne lining and a full tulle over skirt. This dress was elegant and extravagant, perfect for the glamorous bride!
She also ordered my Lilly dress and Daisy. These two dresses have a more bohemian feel to them and are light and easy wearing.

In January I sent Dahlia and Peony to Wedding Connexion in Glenvista. Estee believes that every bride should get her day in a princess wedding dress and she loved these two designs.

The latest exciting developments are that I am now supplying the new Lady Marmalaide Boutique in Parkhurst with five of my bohemian styled wedding dresses. I haven't yet done photo shoots of the latest two developments, but I will release these as soon as possible. I am doing well at this store so if you're in the area, please do stop in!

Finally, I have 4 of my dresses in the beautiful Wedding Boutique in Woodstock, Cape Town!

Expanding and constantly innovating new bridal wear for my Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria clients is what Molteno Creations is all about so keep following my progress on this page or my social media platforms!

Michelle was quite the blushing bride in her dusty pink wedding gown. Here’s her story…

The lovely Michelle came to me after having seen my work at the SA WEdding show in 2016. She is a practical lady, and while she wanted to look beautiful and elegant on her wedding day, she also wanted a dress she could feel comfortable in. The didn’t like the idea of any dress that she would have to fuss with. She wanted something light and comfortable that would hold in place, allowing her to let loose and enjoy her big day. Other than this, Michelle knew that she didn’t want a white wedding dress. She had seen that a number of my dresses were blush pink or champagne in colour and she liked this idea.

At the consultation Michelle tried on a few of my bridal gowns and she really likes the dresses I had made with the illusion neckline. The confort factor of these styles were most appealing and she liked how some of my dresses used the illusion mesh to hold delicately scallopped lace against the skin.

We also found that the pinky colours looked really good on her skin tone and that the A-line silhouette suited her figure best.

With all this in mind, I designed a corset dress for her with illusion bodice and lace cap sleeve detail. The back lace would be shaped in a v to slim down the back and the skirt would be made from soft tulle to create an A line skirt. I would then make a thin satin belt to cinch in the waist.

With this style settled, Michelle and I headed off to the fabric shop. We found a gorgeous, delicate dusty pink lace with subtle bead and sequin details on it. We paired this with a elegant crepe satin and soft Italian Tulle. We selected 3 different complementing colours of tulle in shades of pink, blush and nude. The effect when the three were mixed together was absolutely dreamy! They looked like a floaty sunset cloud.

The dress was a dream come true, after a few fittings and tweaks, it all came together beautifully and Michelle looked simply stunning on her wedding day.

From the Brides mouth:
Once again, thank you! I loved it:) It was super comfy and I felt like a princess!!

Rushka came to me in August 2016 looking for a designer to help her to create her dream wedding dress. As a creative herself, she had a clear idea of the aesthetic she was going for and felt that my soft, bohemian design style was in line with that.

Ruschka had collected a few images of wedding dresses she liked, and also brought me a few dresses of her own that she liked. I love it when my clients do that as it gives me a clear idea of the bridal they like, and the clothes they bring of their own can show me and them exactly what looks good on their figure.

Ruschka was going for a bohemian styled wedding dress. This typically alludes to the bridal design being understated, elegant, easy to wear, light and flowing. The wedding venue was to be the center of Cape Town and they were going to do the couples shoot on the streets of the CBD, the theme would therefore be that of modern boho.

After looking at all of Ruschka's design inspiration, we settled on a dress with an unstructured bodice, with a scoop neck and low scoop back. The front of the bodice was to be lined with satin and covered by delicate Chantilly lace. The back would be made using only the lace against skin and I would cut delicate cap sleeves from the trademark Chantilly edging.

The skirt would be made from a double layer of featherweight silk chiffon and finally I would make a little belt from raw silk. The back of the lace would be fastened with a fine row of silk covered buttons.

The style suited Ruschka’s petite frame perfectly and we chose an off white which complimented her complexion.

After a trip to the fabric store and a few fittings, the dress came together perfectly and the result was nothing short of stunning!

From our brides mouth :  The dress looked amazing and I felt incredible and so comfortable in it the whole day. Thanks again Rose!
